Spider naevi skin treatment

Spider Naevi

Telangiectasia or spider naevi is a type swollen blood vessel found slightly beneath the skin surface, often containing a central red spot and reddish extensions which radiate outwards like a spider's web. They are common and benign and common in healthy adults and young children.

Characteristics

For a spider naevi on the face, laser skin therapy treatment can be used to remove the lesion.

High estrogen levels in their blood cause spider naevi and is common for pregnant women and women using hormonal contraception. Individuals with significant liver disease also show many spider angiomas, as their liver cannot metabolize estrogen.

Spider naevi are asymptomatic and usually resolve spontaneously. This is common in the case of children, although they may take several years to disappear. If the spider naevi are associated with pregnancy, contraceptives, or liver disease, they may resolve shortly after these medications are stopped, after the pregnancy and when liver disease is resolved.

SKIN TREATMENT OPTIONS

DIATHERMY

Diathermy or thermocoagulation is a treatment that uses a very fine needle to prick the skin and then an ultrarapid radiofrequency current is passed through the area which is heated and sealed. This precision technique is used to coagulate certain superficial cutaneous imperfections and veins, in order to minimize their appearance or to completely eliminate them.

IPL SKIN REJUVINATION

IPL is a gentle, non-invasive way to reverse the signs of ageing. We use a safe and effect Intense Pulsed Light that converts into heat energy when absorbed by red or brown pigment. We can selectively target and remove capillaries with the natural elimination process through our lymphatic system. This treatment reduces the appearance of the overall redness to the skin and permanently shuts down the damaged capillary.

LASER PIGMETNATION REMOVAL

Our Candela Alexandrite Laser uses a focused beam of light that is attracted to red and brown pigment. The pigment in the skin absorbs the light which is then converted to heat which shatters the pigmented lesion. The pigment will instantly darken to a purple or grey colour, the vessels then shut down and become ineffective and is eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
