SPIDER NAEVI - TELANGIECTASIA

Spider naevi are prominent blood vessel that occur as single or multiple blood vessels on the face, chest and neck areas. As the name suggests, spider naevi look like central red lumps with blood vessels radiating in a spider web-like pattern from the centre. High estrogen levels in their blood cause spider naevi. Individuals with significant liver disease also show many spider angiomas, as their liver cannot metabolize estrogen.

WHAT IS DIATHERMY?


Diathermy or thermo coagulation is a treatment that uses a very fine needle to prick the skin and then an ultra rapid radio frequency current is passed through the area which is heated and sealed. This precision technique is used to coagulate certain superficial cutaneous imperfections and veins, in order to minimize their appearance or to completely eliminate them.




HOW DOES IT WORK?

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?


You may experience some erythema after the treatment but subsides quickly.




WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY TREATMENT?


We cleanse the area to be treated. With diathermy we use a very fine needle to prick the skin and then an ultra rapid radio frequency current is passed through the area which is heated and sealed. We then disinfect the area followed by an application of SPF. With IPL we use a safe and effect Intense Pulsed Light that converts into heat energy when absorbed by red or brown pigment. this deviced is glided over the skin with a gel for slip. Your might feel warm in the area of treatment with a mild zap sensation which is comfortable. After the treatmetn is performed the gel is removed and acooling gel or mask is applied following some SPF.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?


After the treatment you may experience some erythema to the area that was treated but subsides very quickly after the treatment.




HOW MANY SESSION WILL I NEED?


Diathermy: you may only need one initial treatment but depending on each client 1-3 can be expected

IPL: we recomend 6-12 treatments depending on the severity.




WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE PRE AND POST CARE?


Pre treatment care: We recommend wearing a daily sunscreen prior to your treatment to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. If your skin is peeling or sunburnt, we recommend that you wait a few weeks for the peeling or burn to subside. Please do not use any prescription Vitamin A for 1 week prior to your treatment.

Post Treatment: We recommend no harsh acids or scrubs for at least 5 days post treatment. Your dermal therapist will guide you on a recommended skin care program for your skin concerns. Sunscreen must be worn for a minimum of 14 days post treatment to prevent post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation.

We always recommend the daily use of SPF 30 sunscreen to prevent the skin becoming sun damaged. Please apply at least once every two hours when out in the sun.

We use IPL this is a gentle, non-invasive way to remove unwanted vascular conditions. We use a safe and effect Intense Pulsed Light that converts into heat energy when absorbed by red or brown pigment. This treatment reduces the appearance of the overall redness to the skin and permanently shuts down the damaged capillary.
