Skin Boosters, also known as Micro Filler, is an injectable treatment that hydrates and smooths the skin. Skin boosters are very fine dermal fillers that are injected into the skin (not under the skin) to hydrate and improve skin quality. In young skin, a skin booster can give an airbrushed or filtered appearance to the skin. In older skin, a skin booster can reduce the appearance of crepey skin.
Skin Boosters are applied with a mesotherapy gun which can be performed over large treatment areas of the face, neck, and hands to increase the skin’s hydration and overall health. It uses suction to bring the skin to the needles to provide even distribution of the dermal filler up to 1mm into the skin. The fillers are injected into the papillary dermis. Fibroblasts are stimulated by the injection of the filler which causes new collagen and elastin formation in the skin. The depth of injection can be varied by the injecting gun used. The result is healthy-looking, glowing and plump skin. Skin boosters are recommended for patients who want to improve the overall quality and hydration of their skin. The fillers that are used are also formulated with 14 types of anti-oxidants and vitamins within the filler to nourish the skin.
The skin booster treatment is not intended to fill lines and wrinkles. Instead, it is to hydrate the skin and promote formation of new collagen and elastin in the long term. Clients may notice a more dewy and firmer appearance to the skin and more of a ‘glow’ as a result. this treatments compliments all skin types.

Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT ARE SKIN BOOSTERS?
Skin Boosters are micro-injections of dermal fillers in the skin. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not injected beneath the skin to volumise or shape the face. Instead, they are very fine liquid dermal fillers that are injected into the skin to hydrate and improve skin health.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Multiple injections activate the fibroblasts promoting new collagen and elastin formation firming the skin and provide a cocktail of vitamins and minerals to improve the overall health of your skin.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
After the treatment is performed you may experience some mild swelling to the area and mild erythema. These symptoms do subside quickly.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY TREATMENT?
The nurse will clean the area to be treated, mark out the area where treatment is to take place and the Boosters are applied with a mesotherapy gun. These are machines that utilise a 9 point needle system to deliver a specific amount of dermal filler to a specific depth. It uses suction to bring the skin to the needles to provide even distribution of the dermal filler up to 1mm into the skin. The skin is then wiped clean and an SPF is applied.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
You may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the product is being injected. Pain is such a personal and subjective thing, it all depends on your tolerance and on the treated area. Numbing cream can be applied before the treatment if required for a small fee.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY TREATMENT?
HOW MANY SESSION WILL I NEED?
A course of two to three treatments spaced monthly per area is recommended.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE PRE AND POST CARE?
Pre treatment care: We recommend wearing a daily sunscreen prior to your treatment to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. If your skin is peeling or sunburnt, we recommend that you wait a few weeks for the peeling or burn to subside. Please do not use any prescription vitamin A for 1 week prior to your treatment.
Post Treatment: We recommend no harsh acids or scrubs for at least 5 days post treatment. Your dermal therapist will guide you on a recommended skin care program for your skin concerns. Sunscreen must be worn for a minimum of 14 days post treatment to prevent post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation.
We always recommend the daily use of SPF 30 sunscreen to prevent the skin becoming sun damaged. Please apply at least once every two hours when out in the sun.
